چکیده

The creation of new pedagogical designs are some of the next challenges for the future of the Technology-enhanced Learning. This article examines two different ways of describing pedagogical designs: Pedagogical Patterns and Learning Designs. We argue that they are two complementary approaches that theoretically have so much in common, while being disparate in practice. Yet we consider that the drawing together of these communities can only be of benefit to each and, in an effort to narrow this gap, we suggest the advantages from a mixed approach and illustrate in a practical example how to migrate from a Pedagogical Pattern to an IMS Learning Design.

Teaching in 3D: Pedagogical Affordances and Constraints of 3D Virtual Worlds for Synchronous Distance Learning

Three-dimensional (3D) virtual worlds are a new technology that holds some promise as constructivist learning environments for distance education. This investigation presents an evaluative case study of the pedagogical implications of using one 3D virtual world, Active Worlds, for synchronous distance education. The research design for this qualitative study focuses on the pedagogical affordanc...

Blended Learning Patterns for Course Design

Design patterns provide an overall structure for describing best practices. Design patterns originated in the field of architecture and urban design and gained popularity in programming and human-computer interaction. Implementing delivery methods by using pedagogical design patterns

The goal of e-learning technology should in our opinion be to develop systems with a wide range of variation and many opportunities for both teachers and students when it comes to delivery methods and learning styles. We argue that the focus of e-learning design has been administration, content and media, and that pedagogical methods have not been prioritized. We present our thoughts about how ...

Enhancing Intelligent Pedagogical Agents in Virtual Worlds

Intelligent Pedagogical Agents (IPAs) are software agents which have educational purposes. They are able to communicate, cooperate, discuss, and guide other students or agents. Some studies conclude that if agents look like and interact as humans, they will enhance the learning process and the motivation of the students. This paper presents a proposal to add Semantic Web Knowledge to Intelligen...
